Pin It! Make It! : Milo Slice

I'm always on the look out for good recipes for kids snacks and afternoon tea, and this Milo Slice fitted the tee. Mmm, Milo..

Pinned here.
Recipe from 'The Organised Housewife' website - link here.

They turned out yummy, just a little dry which could be from me over-baking them a little or just generally from all the oats and coconut. Hubby reckons add sultanas, and it will be awesome. Sultanas apparently fix many a-baking problem...he he...

So that's my Pinterest project for this week. Has Pinterest inspired you to make anything lately?

If yep, then why not play along, and link up below...

Creative Space : Meh. Snuh. Bah.

I think these words are actually a 'Simpsons' reference, but these words are something hubby and I have joked about over the years...the words to use when yes or no just doesn't quite convey the feeling you want, and sometimes when you just aren't sure what to answer or what you want...

Meh. Snuh. Bah.

Anyway, yesterday for a giggle, I screen printed 'Meh.' onto a t-shirt for hubby...

Now he's popped in a request for 'snuh.'...he he

Creative people a-plenty over here..

Pin It? Make it! : Fabric Canvas Art

Pin It? Make It! is returning to it's normal programming :-)

My inspiration this week was taken from my 'For The Home' Pinterest board, but could have just as easily been on my 'Creative Makings' inspiration board....Canvas Art

Canvas Art by Ledamae at Made It
www.ledamae.com.au

So I thought I'd get out my screenprinting and a canvas, and get started...

My choice of design : a pirate ship for my nephew Ash

I added a little texture onto mine, by hand-stitching a few waves in....I stapled the fabric around a canvas and I was all done...

Any Pinterest pins inspired makings in your house lately? Why not link up and share with us here....it'll be fun!

Creative Space : Needle work

Today I am sewing on the finishing touches to my red moss stitch scarf, with a few left over doilies I found....

And I'm also trying to get the hang of using DPN's for this toy project I'm making. I have attempted the magic loop technique, and even though I can get the technique, my stitches are just too tight (even when I try to be loose!) to pull back up onto the needle.
So after a couple of frustrating evenings, I'm moving on to the DPN's, and am hoping these will work ok too.

Joining in with this week's creative spaces at it's new home.

Happy making!

The Weekend that was..

I'm sure plenty of you have been in this position before.
We had a full weekend planned - visiting family, an assembly, general family out-and-aboutness
And then someone gets sick...really sick
Our poor little Jude started up with a stomach bug on Friday night, and it just kept on going.
So out went all of our family plans, and Roh handled them mostly solo, or with Lana as sidekick.
Which left me at home with the two boys, and a whole lot of time.

So I...
Made some chocolate macaroons for Rohan to take with him, to visit family

I crocheted up a beanie

I put the finishing touches on this crochet hat, for my niece

I finished off a module in my online course

And I started a new knitting project.

And if anyone has any tips of knitting with a magic loop - I'd love to hear!

How was your weekend?

Creative Space : Cake Thingys

So Alannah had a 'Singstar/Karaoke' party on the weekend - 12 girls aged between 7 - 13 (and one very enthusiastic auntie).....
loud - oh my yes!
fun had by all - definitely!

Anyhow, I'd seen these new versions of a cake pop online, and really wanted to give them a go myself.  Fortunately while wandering around a new local party supply/dessert bar supply shop in Tecoma - Little Dance - I found the little push up gizmos needed to make them - yay!

Here's how I put them together :

First up, I made up one vanilla buttercake and one chocolate cake.
Using the cake do-flicky as a cutter, I went around the cakes and cut out 10 cylinders of cake, per cake.
Then I sliced those cylinders of cake in half, to make two discs of cake.

Then it was the fun part.
First I layered it with a couple of teaspoons of sprinkles.
Then the chocolate cake piece.
Then berry buttercream.
Then the vanilla cake piece.
Topped off with chocolate buttercream and little heart sprinkles.

Fiddly, but not hard, and a HUGE hit at the party - with the adults as well as the kids!

Many more creative spaces over at their regular spot - I'm going to have a bit of a blog hop while I have a coffee.

Happy Thursday!
