A Fairytale Touch

Today I received this beautiful mosquito net, in the post. After a much appreciated tip off from Dan, I bought this from the Deals Direct website for the bargain price of $14.95! I was so impressed with the price and it will be the perfect fairytale touch to Alannah's room.

Seeing Alannah has been waiting for ages for her own room, we really want it to be a princess haven for her, and I definitely think this is going to help achieve that. What little girl wouldn't love pink netting and roses? I know Alannah does :-)

Next week, stage 2 of building starts - yay!

Cowgirl & Cuddles

Here are a couple of layouts that I have completed in the last week.

First up, is a cyber-crop challenge from Scrap Boutique. This was Kate's challenge :

And here's a layout I created just for fun :

I'm still loving the Basic Grey Offbeat range, as you can see :-)

I've got another creation to share but I haven't photographed it yet, so will be back with that another time. It's going to be a scorching week here in Melbourne, so we will probably be laying low most of the time. Jude starts 3 yo kinder on Thursday so that's exciting for him, and I''m off to the movies with Kate & Dan tomorrow night and other than me working this arvo, we have nothing else planned. I think it's probably a good thing with next week being the start of a completely new routine with Alannah starting school.

Thanks for stopping by!

It's a Boy Thing

Love these photos that Reeze took of Jude - it's such a boy thing to do and I love the expressions on his face. This layout is for this months challenge at Scrap the Boys, which was to be inspired by their new banner. Fun, fun!

Saying Goodbye

I felt I couldn't go on blogging without mentioning last week's sad news.

On Monday 12th January, my beloved Grandad fell asleep in death, after a fight with cancer. He was 74. We said our goodbyes to him on Friday morning, in South Australia, with sad hearts.

He will be greatly missed.

Autumn Love

I've been playing some more with the Jan Qtea kit 'Folklore Forest' - it's so gorgeous. This layout uses the fabric, cork sheet, lace and ribbon with the red flowers. I've also used the red vintage photo corners which I think was from an older Qtea kit...hmm...not sure :-P

Here's a close up of the fabric tree, matted on cork, with beads adhered with DM, to add extra texture and depth to the tree. Love this fabric!

Roh's away for work for the next two nights, so I'm hoping to get some scrapping done. I have to work tonight though :-P but after that, maybe :-)

Hello Sweetheart..

I got a chance to scrap on Saturday afternoon, while Roh was at squash and the kids were playing nicely, so I pulled out the latest Qtea kit - 'Folklore Forest' - which is absolutely gorgeous. Here I've used the paper (the large red frame) and the crochet flowers from the kit, along with Sass Lass background paper, MME's quote & journal card, Crafty Matters Word Tile and some stitching as well as a couple of alphas. I love how Dan's kits merge so well with current scrapbook ranges and I'm really happy with how this layout turned out. It ended up completely different from what I had originally planned for these photos, but I like this one better :-P. This is the first time Lana met Bodie - so sweet.

House Progress - 29th Dec 08 - 1st Jan 2009

The extension is moving along nicely. Something that has been discovered though, is that our current living area is completely un-level (about 10cm out in one corner which is a very 'hills cottage' standard..he he) and to level it up with the new 'very level' extension, nearly the whole living area has to come down so that the big window doesn't crack with the movement - so ceiling and walls will go, at the same time I lose my kitchen ceiling and walls too, so we'll be living al fresco..lol...should be an interesting experience! Fortunately it looks like some warm weather is heading our way :-P

Ok, onto some photos :

29th December : Bracing in and attaching joists around the stairwell. Bit tricky.

Floor joists all in place.

Web Blocking finished - perfectly straight - proud moment for Roh...

1st Jan 2009 : Roh nailing in some flooring sheets on the first floor, between rain showers.

Flooring finished on the first level - woo hoo!!

View from bottom of house - finished frame and flooring.

So today, Roh is off to get some plumbing stuff to do the sub-floor plumbing, and then we are up for an inspection - yay!!

2009 - will take me a few more days to get used to writing the date with an '09' on the end, as it does every year. Should be a fantastic year - Lana starts school, Jude starts kinder, a new niece or nephew is due in July, our house will hopefully be finished, Roh has work, I have work and we are all currently happy and healthy - it's a good start :-)
I received a really nice slide show in my inbox on NY day, and I just wanted to share a couple of thoughts from it, that gave me something to think about :
"Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk...just live your dream"
"A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life" (love this one!)
"Open your arms to change, but don't give up your values"
Hmm, all good points I think :-)

I've got some super cute photos of Jude in his new super hero cape & mask to share (he adores it Dan!), but might leave that for another post - this one is already quite full!

Some Scrappy News

First up, I am super excited as my very first magazine cover project has just come out. The January 09 issue of For Keeps Creative Paper has my 5 projects on it, based around a friendship theme, using lots of Sassafras Lass, with a bit of Buzz & Bloom, SEI and Scrapware in there too. Anyhow, it's very exciting for me, and I wanted to share :-)

Also in this issue is the announcement of the new Elite Team. I'd just like to take this opportunity to congratulate the new girls - Mel Nunn, Janine Koczwara, Jo Carey and Catherine Pineda. I'm sure your year with For Keeps is going to be full of new challenges!

The Awards for Excellence were also announced too, and I was very happy to see some scrappy friends in there - Big Hugs to Michelle, Jolene and Vita on your winning layouts - such stunning inspiration - Congrats ladies!

Here's another layout I finished using the masking/inking techniques learnt at the Heidi Swapp workshop. I got a little messy with the paint :-P

House progress is coming along well. Will do another post shortly with photos - Roh and his dad are finishing the first level floor today, if the rain stays away.

I'm off to re-locate my scrap desk to our bedroom - it sure is getting squeezy in there now - but it has to be done!

Enjoy the first day of 2009 and stay safe.
