Go! Go! Go!

Levi is now crawling, and loving it....he is into everything!!

See, he looks pretty happy with himself...

Can you see his cheekiness and the twinkle in his eyes? Oh, it's definitely there :-P

A new phase begins...

Sculpted in Sand

As mentioned in a previous post, we headed down to the Frankston Sand Sculpture exhibit yesterday. The detail in each sculpture is amazing. And the theme of 'Creepy Crawlies' was interpreted in such interesting ways by the artists.

So as not to ruin the exhibit for anyone who wants to go, I'll just show a few snippets of my favourite bits...

Very cool!

Little Boy Tie

As promised, I'm back with photos and a link to a fab tie tutorial :-)

You'll find the instructions and the pattern (free download) over here at Purl Bee.

Here are a few of my progress shots...

Hand-sewing the lining in...

Joining the pieces..

Pinning and hand-sewing the tie together...which is the last stage.

As it was my first attempt, I just picked out a fabric from my stash to give it a go. As funky as the polkadots look, I now think I'll search for something fun and individual for my boys. One tip is that the pattern needs to appear to be random and not symmetrical, as the ties are cut out on a bias, and it just won't work...just my opinion anyhow :-P

And here's my adorable, spunky little model (I'm allowed to say that, aren't I? I am completely biased of course!)

And I just noticed Purl Bee also have a template for a man's tie...look out Roh! he he

Much Marketing..

In the week before Xmas, I was part of 2 Makers Markets - the usual Sunday morning one, and the Twilight Market. The weather played nice, which was great, and it was so lovely to spend some time with fellow market stall holders, and be inspired by their wares.

Photo time!

My 'Apron & Chef Hat' sets are now all packaged up with a whisk and cookie cutters - perfect for gift-giving.

'Sienna' bags

Tote bags

Blossom Bags and re-purposed handbags

Knick Knack Sacks

And a bit of bunting (all packaged up too).

Huge Made It Store update will be happening early in the new year - will keep you posted :-)

Today we are off to see the amazing Sand Sculptures Exhibit entitled 'Creepy Crawlies' on the Frankston foreshore, so I'm sure I'll be back with some photos from that.

The sun is shining and the kids are smiling....it's going to be a beautiful day!

Time to Play

I don't know about you, but for me, the summer school holidays are generally pretty relaxed and other than the must-do's of life (housework, washing, prep for school, etc) we just take each day as it comes. It's such a nice way to live, if only for a few weeks :-)

But anyhow, I digress. One reason I love it is that I have more time to attempt the ever-growing list of projects I want to make.

So, for today, I thought I'd share a couple of tutorial links that have made it onto my list...

How cute are these 'sweetheart crochet hearts' from Bella Dia? Super cute!

An easy pincushion tutorial from PurlBee - I have a big one I bought from Dorothybills that I love, but I definitely think a second one could be very handy :-)

An Oilcloth Lunch Bag - environmentally friendly and lovely to look at - how fantastic!

Cute Sewn Stash Baskets - another goodie from the fabulous PurlBee website.

And finally, for the knitters, these adorable little Knitted Pouches from Martha Stewart Crafts.

Definitely some fun things to make, don't you think?

I'll be back with another link and some photos of a tie tutorial that I followed on Sunday, plus market photos are on their way (I promise!) but I need to re-install my photoshop first (have been having some serious computer issues - blah :-P)

Happy holidays!!

A Baby Blanket of Roses

I finally finished this vintage styled baby's blanket, just in time for the arrival of my friend's baby girl.

I'm really happy with the finished blanket - it's so soft and lovely...just perfect for a bubba.

This pattern was actually quite relaxing to follow...I even think I would make another one :-P

The pattern was taken from this book, Vintage Crochet, which I borrowed from our local library. Lots of lovely projects in there though.

Back soon with another market update :-)

Market Makings

This Sunday I will be at the Mulgrave Makers Market, so the rest of this week (around school/kinder end of year things, meeting a friend's new baby girl, housework, baby-sitting and general life) I will be sewing.

So far here are a few finished items....

Here's hoping there will be plenty more to share at the end of the week!

Today...

.. we finished off some signs...

.. I stewed some apricots - yum!

.. this little munchkin and I played together on the floor for a while...

.. I folded washing, cleaned floors, tidied the kitchen and re-discovered my breakfast bench under piles of fabric and other crafty matter...

.. I played Spiderman Uno...

... with my superhero mad little man...

... I baked two banana cakes, which are currently cooling, before I finish them off with a white coconut icing...

and I'm about to head back into the kitchen to make up a tray of lasagna for our first family dinner in a week.

Today, was an almost typical Monday.
Today, my kids mostly behaved themselves (so far!)
Today, I've got absolutely no sewing done.
Today, my darling husband comes home.
Today, my world will be right again.
