A Fresh Start

A HUGE thanks to my lovely and fabulous sis, DQ, who has made me this fantastic new header. Seeing my blog reflected a lot of Kiti Q, and not so much me, with the sale of the business, I thought it was time to refresh it all here - and thanks again to Dan, for obliging my whims - seeing I am particularly bad at programming/graphic designing/anything technological really...lol! I don't know what I would do without her :-)

So, this blog will no longer be focussed on new scrap products as such, BUT it will feature lots of layouts, as I plan on doing heaps in the near future, any news - family or scrapping, our renovation - pics & issues, ideas for future decorating, sewing projects, knitting projects and anything else that is creative that I feel like sharing :-)

I should have a layout to show by the end of the weekend. I've been playing with my doodlebug flocking powder and I just LOVE the effect it has. Will share soon.

Have a fab weekend!

A Fab Weekend

This weekend has been fantastic. I spent the day yesterday with Dan & my friend Jude, perusing the Life In Style trade show at Flemington Racecourse. It included a free 10 minute massage which was blissful and so much eye candy and inspiration. I bought two pieces of art from a Sydney artist - I just loved them, and with art, I always believe that you should go with your gut feeling. And with these, my gut said 'don't leave here without it' :-P. If you would like to check out some of his work, his website is www.studiooat.com.au.

When I got home, I was all inspired. So I jumped online and found a cybercrop at Scrap Therapy for a little bit of guidance, tuned into my ipod (while hubby watched the footy) and created this layout entitled "Port Arthur".

Then this morning, I completed another challenge with this layout entitled "Could this be love?" using new SEI Poppy products which are REALLY lovely and bright.

I might even play a bit more tonight. I would love to get the August 1,2,3 challenge done, as I've already printed the photos.

Now, a little while ago the sweet Kayla tagged me, so here are some of my quirks :

1. I LOVE dance movies - hip hop, ballet, jazz, ballroom - I just love watching people dance, and the movies about that and I wish that I could dance like them..lol..so a lot of wishful thinking. Just to mention a few that I really like : "Step Up", "Centre Stage" and "Save the Last Dance"

2. My mum and I share quite a few personality quirks (actually, it's more like I've picked up some quirks of mums), which amuses my sisters and Dad to no end because we haven't lived together, or even near each other now for about ten years, but even still I say & do things that are very "mum" things to do.

3. Indecision frustrates me.

4. I gesture when I'm on the phone.

5. I love playing word games - Scrabble, Scattergories, Pictionary, Taboo but really don't like Charades.

6. I don't like sleeping with the bedroom door open - I feel too exposed to possible intruders...paranoid, I know.

7. I have a really broad taste in music - jazz, alternative, folk, blues, rock, R&B, pop. I love lots of stuff and I tend to hold onto CD's that have a sentimental value even if I will never listen to them again (aka Jeremy Jordan..lol)

Ok, I hope everyone has had a great weekend too. Oh, and how exciting - I got my confirmation for the Heidi Swapp day in December in Melbourne - woo hoo! Can't wait! (Hey Vita - did you end up getting a ticket?)

Chat later :-)

A New Toy

I feel very fortunate this weekend - I finally bought a new sewing machine - yay! I've been wanting to start sewing again for a little while, and finally we could afford for me to get a machine. It's fantastic - it's a Brother branded one, which is a brand I've heard a lot of good things about, it has 70 different stitches including 7 types of automatic button holes (gotta love the idea of that!) and comes with a few extras that are all very good. I can't wait to have a play!

ETA - The Heidi Swapp Challenge layout "Queen of My Heart" has been removed for publication.

Another good thing that happened on the weekend - I scrapped! And the layout just flowed for a change - love it when that happens. This layout is for the Heidi Swapp challenge that finishes on the 30th July (have emailed you the details Dannii :-P) and it is actually based on a clear overlay. I'm really happy with it.

Ok, enough procrastinating from me. I've got Rohan's BAS to finish before work this afternoon.

Bye!

So long and thanks for all the fish....lol

"So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it has come to this...."

LOL.....Ok, so I'm a little twisted but as I was writing my very last Kiti Q newsletter yesterday afternoon, this was the first thing that popped into my head. Any fellow fans of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy? And I tried to play on the words a bit for the newsletter, but it just didn't work, so I just thought I'd share here. "So long and thanks for all the scraps" just doesn't have the same effect, does it? Oh well...he he.

Ok, I've got a couple of things to come back and do - thanks Vita for my blog award! and Kayla - I haven't forgotten my tag :-)

Kiti Q is being handed over in a matter of minutes so better go.

Thanks for visiting!

A Layout

Yep, just one layout. Sad, I know :-P Photos were taken by DQ when we went to Luna Park last year. Haven't really had much of a chance to scrap the last week. Had a fun afternoon session with Reeze, but didn't accomplish a lot. Things have been hectic this week, as I've been filling in shifts at my new job as well as doing all the other things that I have to do, and my normal shifts too.

Um, other things....let's see - the new Bam Pop stamps are in store now and are very cute. Kiti Q is handed over to the new owner on Friday...not long now. I've almost finished my scarf. Saw Clare Bowditch last Thursday night with some girlfriends, who are actually my neighbours, which is very cool, and Clare was fantastic and the night was awesome - thanks girls! We have to do that again, although I'm not sure how often I can go to bed at 1am anymore...getting old and all...lol...but loved it. I think Jacqui even got some photos of us, and Clare too...may share when I get hold of them.

Have seen details of the Heidi Swapp days happening in Melbourne & Brisbane...seriously thinking about going. I think she would be lovely to meet, and learn from. Anyone else considering it?

Ok, that's it for me today. I've got to go to work in just over an hour and the lounge is still a mess! Back to doing the domestic thing..he he..

Still Here ;-)

I'm a slack blogger..I know. Things have been kinda hectic around here.

Quick Summary :

* Kiti Q has sold and is in the process of handover & training. Still keeping me busy, which is great. Official handover is in approx 2 weeks.

* Kiti Q is having a 50c patterned paper clearance in the Garage Sale section - ALL patterned papers are 50c, embossed card is 80c and fabric paper is only $1 - so be quick, cos stock is limited!

* New Bam Pop stamps are on their way, and they are sooooo cute!

* Roh, me and the kids headed over to South Australia last Thursday for 5 days (including driving time). Had a great time with friends and family, even though it was such a short trip really. Have some photos to share - will mainly upload pics of the kids this post :-)

* I got a new job - working as an Office Manager/Chiropractic Assistant in a clinic about 15 minutes away from home. I had my first shift last night, learning the computer system and just some of the basic processes. I'm going to be helping out in recruiting new doctors to work at the clinic, as well as assist my boss with the book he is writing on children's nutrition. Fingers crossed it all goes well. I'm quite excited about it, and it looks like it's only going to be two shifts a week to start with, which fits in well with me and the kids - yay!

* My mum taught me how to knit on the weekend. Woo hoo - a new skill...well, I'm not sure if I can say that I'm skilled at it yet, but Jude's two coloured striped scarf is over half way finished. I knitted all the way home from S.A...lol....so got a lot done then. Will put up a photo when I've finished, I promise (Mum/Reeze - might need some help with the whole casting off thing please!) Reeze made me this gorgeous little knitted bag, and that along with what mum knits for the kids, inspired me to learn how to knit again...yes, again as I did learn when I was a kid, but didn't stick to it.

Ok, now for some pics from SA :

Caden, my nephew

Caden & Alannah
Roh and Jude

And here is an adorable photo of my little nephew Bodie - looks so cute in stripes. This was taken two weeks ago.

I have been tagged by the sweet Kayla, so I will be back when I think of 7 things to post.
Oh, and I might even scrap something that I can share too :-P

Enjoy your weekend!

Good news

I know in a previous post I said that Kiti Q would be closing down today BUT yay - good news - a very lovely, funky person is in the process of buying Kiti Q, so we will be doing the handover gradually over the next 4 weeks and I am very excited because Kiti Q won't actually go offline at all. So it's all good news here :-)
