Milestone Moments

My baby boy had his very first haircut last week, at 4 1/2 months of age. Gone are the wings over his ears, and the fringe in his face :-)

And he's having a busy month with starting solids as well. So far he likes sweet potato, pumpkin, pears and apricot. He has a funky new highchair, and Levi loves being up with us all at dinnertime.

Such a grub...a cute grub though!

Sew Practical

Over the weekend, I finished this hooded swing jacket for Alannah, for school.

Not only is it very practical and warm, it cost me next to nothing, as I picked up the fleecy fabric as a remnant for $2.60. Throw in some cotton, 3 buttons and a bit of interfacing and time and I would say this jacket cost me about $6..bargain, hey?

Little Miss 7

Yes, Miss Alannah Juliet is now 7.
My first born, my only daughter, my little diva (at times!) is growing up.

A few things about Lana :
* She loves to read and draw
* Her favourite toys are Littlest Pet Shop, Lego, Barbies and her Zhu Zhu Pet
* She wears at least a size 8 in clothing as she is quite tall
* She likes to listen to Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber, so she tells me (although the latter has never ever been played in our house..lol)
* She has started wearing clip on earrings, as Rohan is not yet ready to let her get her ears pierced...he he...
* Her front two teeth are missing - see...

She still brightens our days with her giggly, chatty, noisy, dancing self. Love my baby girl xx

Hmm...Inspiring, Funky Fabrics...

Just a peek into my stash. Pretty much nearly every fabric has been bought with a project in mind, and I'm just amazed at the range of designs available out there.

So much loveliness.

Now to get making!

Hello from Polkadot Lane

Welcome, welcome to my new home!

Danielle has done some amazing editing & designing for me, to make this new home funky and sweet - thanks so much chic, I love it!! xx

Some cool things....

* I have a 'made-it' shop........ but it is still empty. Hopefully by the end of the weekend, I'll be adding some new products to it - some bunting and some aprons, at least.

* My complete archive from 'Kelly's World' has been copied over to this blog - yay!

* My Flickr gallery is now all linked up too.

This little adventure has been in the pipeline since the beginning of the year, so it's very exciting to see it start to come together. I love making, and to be able to sell some of the things I make online will be a lot of fun.

All in all, I'm loving my new home, and my new look blog.

Why not take a stroll through Polkadot Lane. I would love to hear your thoughts about my online world makeover :-)

Happy Friday!

My Creative Space..

has a few works-in-progress waiting to be worked on..

My zinnia cushion is nearly all cut out..I love this Amy Butler August Fields fabric

And this was the first of fifteen flower granny squares to be made up, for a bubby blanket. I've got 3 complete, and 3 in progress at different stages. Have also added in a little bit of musky pink to the mix for some contrast..

Many more creative spaces to be found over here. Why not check out a few and say 'hello'.

Loving Levi

is easy. Just look at this cuteness...

Levi is now 4 months and here's a few things about him...
* He has more than doubled his birth weight, now weighing 7.2kgs
* He is still waking twice at night for feeds (am working on this!)
* He loves playing on the floor with his toy mobile
* He snuggles fleecy blankets when he's tired
* He loves to chat
* He had rice cereal for the first time yesterday, after recommendations from the MHN, and loved it.
* He still has all his hair, and he has a chin dimple like me!
* Everyone is still completely besotted by him, even when he's grumpy :-P

Rhubarb, Rhubarb, Rhubarb

I have fond memories of rhubarb from my childhood (mainly apple & rhubarb pie or crumble), but hadn't eaten it in a very long time. So when I saw this recipe for 'Rhubarb & Orange Upside-down Cake' in the current issue of Real Living I thought....why not give it a go?

Verdict : Yum!

Snuggly Scarves

Scarves are definitely an essential item in any winter wardrobe..well, in my mind anyhow.

Over the last month, I rustled up a couple of scarves for loved ones and here they are....

A knitted, super cosy grey scarf for Rohan...a simple rib design but manly :-P

And a crocheted skinny stripe scarf for my dear friend Cass...

I have another skinny stripe scarf on my hook at the moment, but instead of the teal shades, I'm using two shades of red..not sure who this one's for yet either ...

Stay warm xx

Just found out that one of my Sherbrooke Forest photos has been selected to appear in the 12th edition of the online guide 'Schmap' - Melbourne Edition - check it out here.

Lovely surprise

Cute Little Handbag

A few weeks ago, I won this adorable fabric in a fat quarter piece from the Kelani blog - yay for me! It's called 'Retro Bambi in Red on Peach'.

And on Friday night, I decided to make a little handbag from it, using a Simplicity pattern # 4650. By Saturday night it was finished, and it didn't turn out too bad at all :-P

Lined in an off-white and black damask-y flower print..

Finished with a magnetic snap clip...

and some top-stitching..

I had fun making it, and have another one or two planned in my head. Next project though : Amy Butler's Zinnia Cushion in the 24" design - should be a challenge and a half!

Cupcake Creations

Just a short and sweet post about a couple of the cupcake party's smaller details, but to start with something fun, and a little out there, here was Alannah's cupcake creation...

Hmm...I think it took her four sittings over two days to finish eating this..he he :-P

And here's a close up of the apron I made her..my design

And lastly, the left-over undecorated cupcakes got dunked in a chocolate cream icing, and topped with a flower (store bought but so cute!).

I picked up an awesome baking tin which allows you to cook the cupcakes in two halves, which you then paste together with a sticky icing mix, but it gives you the spirally top which is just too cute.

Will be back very soon with a sewing post.
